Player prefixes are a great way to add personality, structure, and clarity to your Hytale server. Whether you want to highlight staff roles, distinguish ranks, or simply give your community a fun way to stand out, custom prefixes make chat interactions more engaging and organized. One of the most powerful tools for managing prefixes is LuckPerms, a flexible permissions plugin that gives server administrators complete control over player groups, ranks, and formatting. With LuckPerms, you can assign unique prefixes to different roles, like [Admin], [Moderator], or [VIP] and ensure they display consistently across your server. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to set up custom prefixes using LuckPerms on your Hytale server. You’ll learn the basics of configuring prefixes, applying them to groups or individual players, and best practices to keep your chat clean and professional. By the end, you’ll have a fully customized prefix system that enhances communication and gives your server a polished, professional feel.

Setting Custom Prefixes on Your Hytale Server (LuckPerms)

1. Log in to your Game Control Panel and navigate to your service.

2. Navigate to the Web-Console Tab.

3. In the Web-Console tab, type in the command you want to use. If you’d like, you can wrap the prefix text in <color></color> tags to give it a custom color.

Command Description
lp user <playername> meta setprefix <priority> "<prefixText>" Adds the prefix to the weight value of the player.
lp user <playername> meta removeprefix <priority> "<prefixText>" Removes the prefix from the weight value of the player.
lp user <playername> meta settempprefix <priority> "<prefixText>" <duration> Adds a temporary prefix to the player with a specified duration. The duration can be a Unix Timestamp or a time period, such as 1mo7d12h30m  5m.
lp user <playername> meta removetempprefix <priority> "<prefixText>" Instantly remove the temporary prefix from the weight value of the player.

NOTE: Priority is set using weight values, and whichever has the highest priority will appear before the rest.
